New Homes Initiative

$1 Lots Available

The Bronzeville District is located at the southernmost end of the Harambee neighborhood, and the northernmost end of Halyard Park. Adjacent neighborhoods include Riverwest, Brewers Hill, Williamsburg Heights, and North Division. From a residential perspective, many of the homes in Bronzeville were built prior to the turn of the century.

To encourage redevelopment in the area, the City of Milwaukee is offering financial incentives to owners of homes in the Bronzeville neighborhood, as well as those interested in moving in the District.

Homeowners can be approved for up to $10,000 to assist in conserving and updating their home. Also, those interested in building a home can purchase a vacant lot for $1.00 through the Bronzeville New Homes Initiative on which to build their home. In addition, $10,000 in forgivable grant funds is available to those who agree to live in their newly constructed home in Bronzeville for 5 years. Both programs are operated through the Neighborhood Improvement Development Corporation (NIDC).
